Church Planting

In the Great Commission, the Lord Jesus makes church planting a biblical responsibility of every true church. Since each member church may not have the resources to plant a church independently, a primary mission of the Confessional Baptist Association (CBA) is for churches to work together to plant churches. The fact that a local church cannot independently plant a church does not mean such a church has no responsibility for engaging in the work of church planting through partnership with other churches. Each member church should willingly devote whatever resources it can commit to the work of church planting. Such resources include but are not limited to advice, experience, personnel, on-site volunteer assistance, equipment, money, prayers, and encouragement.

There are many strategies and methods for planting churches.  There is no "one-size fits all" approach to church planting.  CBA's Church Planting Assistance operations and activities focus on helping member churches develop a lively spirit of interest and commitment concerning church planting. This includes: 

  • Communicating church planting success stories

  • Maintaining a church planting fund to finance new church plants 

  • Assisting member churches in developing plans to plant new churches 

  • Providing hands-on advice

  • Organizing on-site assistance in launching and carrying out the work of planting churches

  • Communicating the needs of church planting efforts to all member churches 

  • Evaluating church planting project proposals for CBA funding consideration, and 

  • Actively raising funds to support the CBA's church planting fund.

Additionally, new churches cannot be planted without qualified men who are called by God to do this difficult and very necessary work.  So, CBA's Church Planting Assistance also focuses on looking for ways to help member churches identify, encourage, train, and develop men who believe God is calling them to the gospel ministry.  The training and development of future preachers and pastors, especially for the work of church planting, will need to occupy a prominent place in the work of CBA's Church Planting Assistance, so that our member churches may succeed in fulfilling the Lord's call to make disciples throughout the world.
